Silver Knots
This piece is dedicated to my Grandfather I never met, the silver thread knots reference the fact he was a rope splicer, I believe I have him to thank for some of my artistic gifts.
Rachels’ initial research for the exhibition Silver began during the start of lockdown and her work is intrinsically linked to the poem and the emotional undercurrents of that period in her life.
Time was spent in reflection and the cycle of life, the family bonds and the past that binds us.
Rachel was drawn to the words “entwining strings” the threads and connections that pull emotionally, physically and spiritually- these can be suffocating but alternatively liberating, “as the sun reveals tendrils of morning, a new day”
